A large size sterling silver easel back photograph frame.  This is a striking and unusual sterling silver photograph frame with all of the style of the Art Deco period.  Simple in design, so as to not detract from the determined content, but with the colour and pattern make it more appealing that any plain counterpart.  The two swinging catches open out to free the wooded black velvet covered back, this then slides down through a gap in the base of the frame, then allowing it to be angled out for adding the photograph.  Very simple, and neat.

On the back of the frame are makers marks for "Raimond" and the "sterling" mark.  Raimond was a fairly large US manufacturer which began in the mid - twentieth century.  They produced in both the US as well as Italy and made bother sterling and silver plate household items. The firm was acquired by W. S. Blackington in 1966 and ceased to produce under their own name in 1978. It appears that they made a number of photograph frames in many shapes and styles.  However, another enamel frame like this has not been found.  Given that enameling is an expensive, painstaking and difficult task to undertake, it can be assumed that very few of these were made, with even less surviving today.

The condition of the frame is superb throughout, with no cracks or chips to the beautiful red and black enamel border.  Circa early 1960's, made in America.
